Oh My Aching Back

Low back pain is something that almost everyone has to deal with at some time or another. It’s sometimes a structural issue, meaning that there is a misalignment of the spine that causes a pinched nerve, or it may be a problem with a slipped or ruptured disc. In these situations, a trip to the doctor or chiropractor may be in order, however massage can help by loosening the muscles that are pulling your spine out of place and putting stress on the problem area.

Many forms of back pain are not structural, but are due to postural distortion. For example, if when laying flat on your back you are experiencing low back pain, you may have a tight Eleo Psoas muscle. Maybe you have tight ham strings and abdominal muscles that are tilting your pelvis and causing low back and hip pain. The point is, there are many ways that our back can be stressed, and a good massage therapist can work with you to release the tension in the offending muscles. The right therapist will analyze your posture to determine the cause of your pain and recommend a treatment plan that will include massage, stretching, icing and heat therapy or possibly suggest a visit to a medical professional.

I like to tell people that there is no way to lose with massage. Even if your condition needs more than a massage, you will still leave the massage relaxed and refreshed. So don’t just complain about your aching back, come get a massage. What do you have to loose except the pain?
